On May 13, 2022, at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the first full-time Project Meeting was held under the project “Materials Science Ma (s) ters – developing a new master’s degree” co-financed by the European Union under the Erasmus + KA220 HED program (Foundation for the Development of the Education System – National Agency of the Erasmus + Program and the European Solidarity Corps). After several months of online meetings and discussions, we were happy to host our Project Partners from Afyon Kocatepe University (Turkey), University of Žilina (Slovakia), Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) at the Chorzów campus of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

During the meeting, the activities related to the implementation of the first task concerning the analysis of the needs and barriers of contemporary teaching in materials science and the identification of possible solutions were summarized. The first results of questionnaires addressed to students and graduates of Materials Science and Industry in the partner countries were discussed, indicating the students’ expectations as to the methods and results of studying as well as the needs of entrepreneurs.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to establish closer contacts with Partners, whom after the official part of the meeting, we invited them to the Silesian Museum, where they had the opportunity to learn about the history of the Silesian region from the earliest times to the political breakthrough of 1989 at the “Light of History. Upper Silesia throughout history” and getting acquainted with a valuable collection of art from Romanticism, through Impressionism, Symbolism and Art Nouveau, to Art Deco and Interwar Expressionism.
